Flight Training: Airline Transport Pilot
An airline transport pilot (commonly called an "ATP") is tested to the highest level of piloting ability. The certificate is a prerequisite for acting as a pilot-in-command (Captain or First Officer) in scheduled airline operations.
The minimum pilot experience is 1,500 hours of flight time, 500 hours of cross-country flight time, 100 hours of night flight time, 75 hours instrument operations time (simulated or actual), and 250 hours pilot in command (PIC) time consisting of 100 cross country and 25 night hours. Other requirements include being 23 years of age, an instrument rating, being able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, an FAA knowledge test, and being of good moral character.
With such high flight time requirements to obtain an ATP rating, most career seeking pilots become Certified Flight Instructors (CFI's) and instruct new student pilots in order to build hours while being paid to instruct.
Requires an ATP CTP course completion outside of Pavco to take knowledge test.
